Every year, the IECA Conference reminds me why I love this work — and this year in Baltimore was no exception.
I had the privilege of presenting alongside four incredible colleagues: Julie McNair, Sarah Applegate, Marta Vajda, and Theo Wolf. Our session, “No Mentor, No Model, No Problem,” explored something many of us in this field have navigated firsthand — building a practice and a professional identity without a clear roadmap handed to us. The conversation was honest, energizing, and (judging by the room) deeply resonant. I’m so grateful to have shared that stage with such thoughtful, generous people.
Beyond the presentation, I had the joy of reconnecting with colleagues and friends from across the country — those hallway conversations and shared meals that remind you this profession is really a community. I also served as a facilitator for our Consultant Roundtables, which is always one of my favorite conference roles. There’s something special about holding space for colleagues to think out loud together.
And then — something I’m still smiling about — I was honored to receive the Make a Difference Award. I won’t pretend I wasn’t moved. This work matters to me deeply, and being recognized by peers I admire so much made it all the more meaningful.

I come home from conferences like this one recharged and more committed than ever to doing this work well — for your family.
